Amirabdollahian received Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi on Wednesday morning in Iran’s Foreign Ministry building.
In the joint press conference after the meeting, Amirabdollahian said that the relationship between Iran and Oman is in a proper path and Tehran sees the ties with Oman as excellent, strategic relations among the Persian Gulf states.
We were in agreement in today’s conversations that the ties between the two countries are at the highest level, as we have had many progresses in economic and trade cooperation in the last months, Iran’s top diplomat noted.
In the meantime, Amirabdollahian said that the trade volume between Tehran and Muscat was not enough and that they had agreed to make more efforts to expand the ties.
He expressed hope that a high-profile visit would be possible in the near future, as Oman’s Sultan has invited Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi to pay a visit to the country.
He also mentioned President Raisi’s Qatar trip, during which he met with the emir of Qatar and signed 14 documents in different areas.
Amirabdollahian said that he and his Omani counterpart exchanged views on the talks in Vienna between Iran and the P4+1 to remove sanctions against Iran during today’s meeting.
He noted that he and Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani had made it clear in their meetings in Munich and Vienna that Iran wouldn’t pass its red lines in Vienna talks.
Iranian negotiating team in Vienna continues to have meetings with the P4+1 representative and exchange non-paper messages with the US representative in Vienna through deputy EU foreign policy chief Enrique Mora, according to the Iranian top diplomat.
Amirabdollahian noted that the Americans send many messages requesting direct talks with Iran, but what is important for Iran is whether such direct talks would be beneficial or have a different outcome than what is currently happening in Vienna.
We are optimistic about Vienna talks in overall and hope that the remaining important issues will be solved through the Western party’s realistic view in the coming days, so that we can conclude that all parties will remain adherent to returning to their commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal, the foreign minister underlined.
Amirabdollahian said that Iran was not content with what is happening in Ukraine, adding that the US and NATO’s provocative measures have made the situation in Ukraine more critical.
He called on all parties to put an end to the crisis through peaceful efforts.
He also said that Iran is in constant contact with all ethnic groups in Afghanistan and urges the caretaker government in the country to form an all-inclusive government.
Iran has received a message from Saudi Arabia via Iraq’s foreign minister that they were ready to continue negotiations with Tehran, Amirabdollahian said, adding that Iran has reciprocally announced its readiness.
There is no way except dialogue and cooperation for solving the crises in the region, he noted, adding that competitions have no outcome but destruction of the region and waste of its wealth.
He emphasized that the countries in the region couldn’t ensure their security in light of destabilizing others.
Regarding the situation in Yemen, Amirabdollahian said that it has turned into a big human tragedy and Iran was ready to support Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue to establish peace in the region, end Yemen’s blockade, and stop the war in the country.
